Манастир Сопоћани је задужбина Стефана Уроша I и налази се у близини Новог Пазара, а назив је добио по старословенској речи сопот, што значи извор. Храм Свете Тројице саграђен је око 1260. године у типичном стилу „Рашке школе“ – издужене основе, незаобилазна купола и романички украси фасада.
Унутрашњост цркве красе фреске које су прославиле манастир Сопоћане, а мећу њима се издваја величанствена композиција Богородичиног Успења. Нажалост, манастир је крајем XVII века разорен и биће напуштен преко 250 година, да би се са обновом кренуло 1929. године. Данас је манастир Сопоћани један од најзначајнијих српских споменика културе, а 1979. године је увршћен на УНЕСКO-ву листу светске баштине.

The Monastery of Sopoćani is an endowment of Stefan Uroš I and is located near Novi Pazar. Its name comes from the Old Slavic word sopot, which means spring. The Church of the Holy Trinity was built around 1260 in the typical style of the Raška School - elongated base, the inevitable dome and Romanesque decorations on the façades.
The interior of the church is adorned with frescoes that made the Monastery of Sopoćani famous, with the magnificent composition of the Assumption of the Mother of God standing out among them. Unfortunately, the monastery suffered destruction at the end of the 17th century and will be abandoned for more than 250 years, with its reconstruction starting in 1929. Today, the Sopoćani Monastery is one of the most impressive Serbian cultural monuments, and in 1979. it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
