Манастир Жича је задужбина краља Стефана Првовенчаног, али велике заслуге за његово подизање имао је његов млађи брат Свети Сава. Жича се налази у прелепој долини између Ибра и Рашке, 6 км од Краљева. Изградња храма
је завршена око 1220. године. У Жичи је крунисано седам српских краљева: Стефан Првовенчани, Радослав, Владислав, Урош, Драгутин, Милутин и Стефан Дечански.
Црква Светог Спаса припада „Рашкој школи“, зидана је каменом и опеком и има фасаду прелепе црвене боје. Због сталног уништавања, паљења, мањи део сликарства у унутрашњости цркве је сачуван. После Првог светског рата 1919. године, владика Николај Велимировић је постављен за епископа Жичког и веома је допринео обнови Свете Жиче.

The Monastery of Žiča is an endowment of King Stefan the First-Crowned, but it was his younger brother Saint Sava who mainly took care of its construction. Žiča is located in a beautiful valley between the Ibar river and Raška, 6 km from Kraljevo. The construction of the temple was completed around 1220. Seven Serbian kings were crowned in Žiča: Stefan the
First-Crowned, Radoslav, Vladislav, Uroš, Dragutin, Milutin and Stefan Dečanski. The Church of the Holy Salvation belongs to the Raška School of architecture, it is built in stone and brick and has a beautiful red façade. Due to constant destruction and burning, a small part of the painting of the church interior was preserved. After the First World War in 1919. Bishop Nikolaj Velimirović was appointed bishop of Žiča and greatly contributed to the restoration of Saint Žiča.
